The Authentic Lens

I recently read, when a photographer can’t change the scene, he/she changes his angle and lens to capture the best of that scene.

Similarly, when you can’t change a scene in your life, you can change your perspective to get the best out of that situation. Changing the lens is sometimes all it takes to be able to move your life forward. It can be as simple as changing one’s perspective.

When we move our perspective from perfection to authenticity, that is when reinvention can take place.

The reinvention process is halted when anything but authenticity is at play. If one wears the infamous rose-colored glasses, and expends energy on “creating perfection,” it precludes one from dealing with the very things that may be stopping, hindering and limiting possibilities that can be.

One of the hardest things for most people to do is disengage with what or who no longer serves our best interests. To become authentic, we must eliminate bad habits and change the lens.

Changing the lens, and thereby your perspective, allows you to see clearly ... sometimes for the first time. When your lens is clear, the picture is brighter, more real, and can certainly be more authentic.

Be the photographer in your own life to depict the most authentic and clear picture of who you are. Develop a new perspective.
